Laila:Player Name≻, just the adventurer I was lookin' fer. I was thinkin' it's about time ye stepped on stage, an'... ...?
Wyatt:Howdy folks! You mus' be Troupe Brilioth!
Laila:An' who might ye be?
Wyatt:The name's Wyatt, an' I work in the performance business. Boy have I godda proposal fur you! Fur mah next production, I've organized fur Troupe Valeriano t'come an' perform raht 'ere in Jeuno. An' I was thinkin' t'mahself, how magnificen' it would be if troupes Brilioth an' Valeriano could collaborate in a circus an' dance extravaganza!
Laila: ...!
Wyatt: These be the deetails o' mah proposal... So whad'ya think?
Lila: Sounds interestin'... But what does Troupe Valeriano have t'say about it?
Wyatt: Well ma'am, that's jes' the prawblem... Troupe Valeriano's bayn busy tourin' the three nations, so I haven't had a chance t'speak with'em prawperly yet.
Lila: Why don't ye leave that to us? We'll go an' inform Valeriano fer ye.
Wyatt: Well ain't that sweet! I'd be most grateful if you could pass the proposal to them. Guess I'll be seein' y'all later then.
Laila: Player Name, I want ye to take this proposal to the music shop in Bastok Markets, an' pass it to the owner o' the establishment. Valeriano often goes there, so I'm told.
Laila: What? Ye met Valeriano himself at the music shop? So...what did he think about the proposal? Really? He was that enthusiastic? Well, isn't that sweet... Hahahahahaaa! I've been waitin' fer this day fer so long...the day I surpass Valeriano. When Wyatt came here an' told us about his plan, I could barely contain me excitement. Needless t'say, ye'll dance with us too, Player Name. This is the perfect opportunity... We'll show Troupe Valeriano who the audience prefers. That reminds me, ye've never performed on stage before, have ye? If ye ask Rhea Myuliah, she'll give ye tips an' tricks on how t'please the crowd when ye dance. We're dancin' fer real this time, so no slackin' off before the performance!
Valeriano: Please excuse our lateness. I hope you were not waiting too long.
Laila: I've been waitin' ten whole years. A few more minutes won't make any difference.
Valeriano: Hm...? I'm not sure I understand.
Laila: Valeriano, today's the day I make ye regret ye ever rejected me!
Valeriano: L-Laila...
Laila: Player Name, ye remember how t'please the audience?
Do ye remember?
- Sure do!
- Uh...
Didn't I ask ye to prepare fer today? Rhea, give Player Name a refresher! hea Myuliah:Rrright away, Laila. Just to give you a general idea... (...) Laila: Ye got it? Give the audience what they want so they watch us an' not Troupe Valeriano! That's enough talk. Player Name, show them what ye got!
Dahjal: Sir, the dancers have snatched the audience away from us...
Valeriano: (Laila, what has become of you...?) (This is not what I had envisioned...not what I came for...) (What I wanted...was...)
Laila: That pipe...? Could this be true...? All those years ago, ye were the one playin' the pipe at Lake Mechieume...
Mokop-Sankop: Heard the silvery sound of the boss's piping before, have you?
Laila: Aye... A long time ago, when I was but a child... I was born daughter to a renowned family o' dancers, an' grew up in the midst o' the Crystal War...
Dance was me life, an' all I knew. But one day I became fed up with day after day o' endless drills, an' decided to run away from home. That was when I first heard the pipe, down by Lake Mechieume. Its soul-stirrin' melody flowed through me, guidin' each step, each whirl an' pirouette... It revived me dwindlin' passion fer dance an' inspired me t'continue. Everythin' I have, I owe to that pipe.
Valeriano: I haven't forgotten that day, Laila...the day I first saw you dance.
Laila: You were watchin'...?
Valeriano: It was the most uplifting sight I have ever had the privilege of laying my eyes upon. When Player Name delivered the proposal to me in Bastok, I thanked the Goddess for giving me the opportunity to watch you dance once more.
Laila: ...... B-but I can't do it... I don't have it in me anymore. Since the day ye rejected me, me sole purpose in life has been t'surpass ye. The only reason I've been dancin' all these years, was so I could look down me nose at ye. I-I don't deserve t'be a dancer...
Valeriano: I am to blame for having caused you so much pain. Please forgive me, Laila. But...I still firmly believe I made the right decision. It would have been wrong to accept the most promising young dancer Vana'diel has ever seen into our troupe.
Laila: What...?
Valeriano: You were brought up surrounded by loved ones, and destined to become successor to the famed Brilioth style. Though tender of age, your talent had already bloomed beyond compare. Never before had such a young dancer been selected lead in your mother's production--even I knew this... But I had no right to pluck you away from where you belonged. You deserved so much more than I could have ever offered in my troupe. No circus tent could ever be large enough for you to grow and fulfill your potential, Laila...
Laila: So...ye rejected me not because ye didn't think I was good enough?
Valeriano: The answer is clear, Laila. You are everything a dancer could ever wish to be. I regret not having explained my decision more clearly when I turned you down.
Laila: Even if ye did, I don't think I would've understood... I so wanted t'join Troupe Valeriano, I lost sight o' all those who cared about me most... I was--am--just a stupid girl...
Valeriano: You need not be ashamed. Just look at the wonderful dance troupe that you have created! Cast your eyes upon the scores of fans who love you!
Laila: V-Valeriano...
Valeriano: Laila... Will you do me the great honor of dancing for me? Just like that time so many years ago?
Laila: Aye!
Valeriano: I have never enjoyed performing as I did today. I very much look forward to our next collaboration. Alright everyone, it's time to go. Hm?
Valeriano: That pebble... My Stardust pebble's twin... So you had it with you all this time.
Laila: They finally found each other again... I'm goin' t'start over. Just like the day I found this pebble by the lake.
Valeriano: I trust it will not take another twenty years before I next see you dance. All the best, Laila.
Laila: That was a helluva debut performance, Player Name. Ye never cease t'impress me. Nothin' rings truer than “practice makes perfect.” Here, this is fer all yer hard work. I've been such a fool all these years, usin' dance just t'try to patch up me broken ego. It's kinda embarrassin' to admit, but I haven't enjoyed dancin' like that fer ages. How I'd love t'dance beside Valeriano again...
